Painted Pine Furniture the Revival

Gorgeous Dining Set from Gorgeous Touch in Coventry

Furniture is very much a fashion industry and in recent times we have seen the popularity of Solid Oak furniture rise and solid pine fall but that is all about to change with the revival of reclaimed painted pine.
Pine is a soft wood and is easy to work with, as a material it is also cheaper to purchase than Oak wood. In the 1990’s Pine was a popular material for furniture and there were numerous local carpenters working with Pine but as the price of imported Oak products came down the fashion tilted towards Oak.
With the introduction of reclaimed painted pine we are starting to see an increase in popularity of Pine furniture especially if you are looking for something different.

Catch-up Blog

So its been almost 8 months since my first blog and so much has happened…………..where to start.

Gorgeous Touch has now moved into the down stairs of Gorgeous Interiors, we made the plunge back in February and we are very glad we did. Our new showroom is much easier to access and have found that business has improved since we moved.

We now have some beautiful shabby chic dressers and furniture which we display our gorgeous accessories and gifts on, it really helps to make the shop feel more like a boutique.

We still have quite an eclectic range of home ware and still try to cater for all tastes and colour schemes, from hot pinks to neutrals we really do have something for everyone.

Since our last blog we have been busy advertising and promoting our business and have featured in Vogue, Tatler and even on ITV’s Laurence of Suburbia. We have also invested in our local football team and have a crowd facing board at the Richo arena or as you might know it as Coventry City Football Club.

As time has gone on we have found new suppliers of gift ware from Langs, to Candlelight, Pacific to Coachhouse and we are constantly looking for new and exciting products.

We now work along side two card ladies Lisa Marie cards and Junie Poonie designs, both are local Coventry girls and are very talented. Lisa Marie makes beautiful personalised easel style hand made cards and Junie Poonie makes gorgeous personalised gifts, from hand made cards to personalised frames and crafts.

Gorgeous Touch has lots of exciting events and shopping fairs coming up in the next few months and we are even in the process of getting our very own shop…………………exciting stuff, I will keep you all posted on that.

I have recently started being a little bit crafty myself and have started to make nappy cakes for new born babies and baby showers, i literally woke up one morning and decided to give it ago and I am so glad that i did as within a week of making my first trial cake, I had sold 3 and haven’t looked back since, so if your looking for something a little different for a loved one that is expecting then look no further then Claire’s Nappy Cakes.
